18 May 05 Balls of Steel, Season 2

Balls of Steel is back!

We are back again in our second season. Last year, we finished in 4th place. Not bad for losing just about all of our games.

This year, we are off to a 2-0 start.

The first game was back and forth between Balls of Steel and the Cage Fighting Ligers. We went back and forth with the lead a few times, but won with a score of 15-12. The big news is we had two homeruns. That never happened last year! Here’s to hoping it was not a one time thing. :)

This week we fought Going, Going, Going… Crap. Shockingly enough, we came out on top. We played hard and won with a shutout with a homerun. The score was 4-0.

Come on out to watch us play some Monday night! MUSA Monday Night Schedule & Standings

Our next game is Monday, May 23rd @ 6.00pm. Be there!

We play at Demetral Park, field #3. Directions

18 May 05 Pictures Are In!

Leah and I met with Barry, our wedding photographer, to checkout some of the pictures he had shot t out April wedding. Wow, they look great! I don’t normally get a kick out of pictures of myself, but some of them are downright amazing! Especially the balck and white ones. With the event and the backdrop, some of the pictures will definatly be making their way to my picture gallery in a short while. :)

14 Apr 05 How Many Life Events

Can you fit into one week? That seemed to be the focus this week. What big happened?

First off, I got married! Yeppers. I got married to Leah. I have the ring as proof! Pictures to come and damn they look good. ;)

Second, we bought a house! We found one house, but the owner lead us around a lot. We went searching for more places and found a second place we really like. A nice two bedroom place with a good yard for a dog. Plus, it was much less than the first, so lots available to do our own projects. Excellent! We close May 27th. We’ll spend the next two months before our apartment lease runs out getting the place fixed up with new hardwood flooring and pain jobs.

Stay tuned for more! (All one reader.) ;)

24 Mar 05 New Palm Pilot

The sad news was that my old Palm Pilot, a Zire 71, was stolen. I initially thought it to be lost. Though at work I heard some reports of things missing from other’s desks in the area. It could be either. Any way you cut it, it sucks. I am out a damn fine Palm Pilot plus the memory card that was in it.

There is a somewhat good side to this. I do have a full backup of my plam pilot that was lost/stolen. Plus, the very important stuff was encrypted, so no worries there. The big bad part of it all is getting a new one to replace it.

I decided to go with the new Zire 72. http://www.palmone.com/us/products/handhelds/zire72/

It is a bit pricey, but I got a $40 break and a $50 mail in rebate from Circuit City, so I saved some cash there. I also got the hard case for it. The soft cases have a bad habit of pressing on the screen. That makes the palm not shot down and drain it’s batter, losing everything on it.

It’s hard to swallow that much to get a new one when the wedding is in only 2 weeks (Yahoo!), saving up for a house, etc. Though I have been rather lost without it. I keep forgetting appointments, todos, almost everything! I am glad LEah has such a good memory, cause mine is failing me more often than not. :-/

Ok, off to get the last of my laundy then bed. I have to teach at 8am tomorrow morning. Teaching on a half day sucks. I need more time to work on the training tools I am developing. Oh, that reminds me. I need to get some books on VBA, Access, and Word. More and more it seems I am becoming one of the main developers for the training team. I don’t mind it, though more time to work on the projects (without sacrificing personal time) would be nice.

20 Mar 05 New Kitty!

This coming weekend is the move to Leah’s apartment. The time is being cut down rather quickly. In no time, Tim will be a married man. I am very excited and the pieces are all falling into place.

We got the rings last week. They look really nice. My ring is titanium with a band of white gold around the center of it. Her’s is a simple platinum band. The capitol was secured for the ceremony and we got a judge lined up for the April 8th date. The license is paid for and all is good. We just got the cakes all tasted and designed today, so things are just about set.

The really fun part of this week was my wedding present to Leah, a new kitten. We found Bronx at work. One of my co-workers needed to find a new home for the kitten. Her boyfriend was extreemly alergic to him, but not to the cat that was there before. We volunteered to take him in. The car ride from their place to Leah’s was fun. We let Bronx wander around the car. It makes driving run when you have a kitten crawling up your arm and around your backrest. :)

We got home and introduced him to the resident cat, Brooklyn. Notice the naming scheme. ;) There was some initial hissing from Brooklyn since she has been the only cat for some time. Now they have aclimated to eachother and are playing and having a good time. The next step will be getting a dog when we get a house.

To see some pictures of the cat’s, try my picture gallery!

30 Dec 04 No Longer Single :)

So here’s some big news!

The New Year is here, brining some big changes. I have met a lady named Leah. She. Is. Awesome. So much so, we are getting married!

That’s right, Tim is moving into the married crowd. We are planning on two ceremonies, one April 8th and one October 8th.

Why two you ask?

The first one will be a small civil ceremony. The attendants will be close friends and immediate family. This is just so we can get legally married. We are aiming to buy a house in August. It will be easier on the financing, title, and legal matters if we are married when we move in. The April date for the civil ceremony is mainly due to scheduling conflicts. We want to have all of the our family up here and that is also one of the few dates we can get free ourselves.

The October 8th date is conveniently 6 months from the April date and will be the religious ceremony. We are looking to be married at the Pres House on Campus and have the wedding reception at the Radisson Inn on the west side. We are still working out the details there as well.

Stay tuned for more wedding news!

Tim :-D

04 Oct 04 Yeppers, its a Monday…

At camp, Mia had a “cheer” she did at lunch sometimes or as the thought of the day. The cheer was from one of her teachers back in high school. When the teacher was having a bad day, she would go out into the hallway, scream at the top of her lungs, then come back in like nothing happened. That is how she dealt with stressful days…

With that in mind, please excuse me while I step outside for a moment…

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARG!!

Ok, I feel somewhat better now. It has been the classic Monday, nothing has gone right. Class was a bit draggy today, my computer at work died so the web project I have been demoing is out of action, two of my bowling team had to bow out today… At least with the bad, when the good comes back around, it makes the good a lot sweeter. I am off to go throw a ball at some pins to release some stress. With the amount of stress I have built up, those pins might explode.

Cheers,

Tim

24 Sep 04 Balls of Steel vs. Last Kid Picked

It was a valient effort, but alas… We fell once again to the opposite team by the score of 3-1… I believe, could be wrong on the score. But lose we did, at the hands of our own teammates!?

See, the other team was short players, and we had an over abundance of players. Our team is mostly implimentors, so they are all in town this week for UGM. That won’t be the case in the coming weeks as I am sure our attendance will dwindle with more and more people out of town.

Back to the game, the opposite team didn’t have enough players. Since wa had many, they had few, we loaned them a few players for the game. So it was Us vs. Us & Them… weird. It was a close game at times, but we seemingly took to long and kept kicking the ball too far forward of home base. Our team mates on the other team had a rock’n game! Too bad it counted for the other team… Oh well, good times were had by all.

Speaking of good times, I need to have a wrap-up of UGM. It’s our User’s Group Meeting for all Epic customers. We normally put on this big production for the customers around a central theme. This years theme: Superhero’s of Healthcare. I was in the multimedia presentation for the session. That was fun! I was Super Doc and have the pictures, trading cards, and 6-foot cutout to prove it. Feel rather sheepish about the entire thing really, seems like a lot of attention for just a little part.

19 Sep 04 Madisalsa!

Ahh, the fun of Latin dancing! Luther’s Blues had Madisalsa there tonight. The odd thing was, there was not much of a crowd. Last time I was there to see Madisalsa, it was packed!

Tonight was a much smaller draw and not many of my friends made it. Katie & Cory came along and Amit wandered in a bit later. So a noticable unbalanced ratio for dancing. I danced with a few random people for a song or two, but they were not that great of dancers. I was hoping to dance a bit more, but I was lost my steam after a bit trying to teach folks how to dance. I came to dance, not teach.

Otherwise it was a good time. Overall the day was very laidback. Laundry finished, pizza supplies readt for the shindig tomorrow, rented some movies to chill out to. All in all, a relaxing time… but I fear it might not have been enough. I need to have some chill out time, things are getting to be a bit much and rather frustrating.

The party tomorrow should help. Packers vs. Bears, noon, my place. Call or IM me for directions. Fresh, home-made pizzas, beer if desired, and other snackables. Not to mention some good ol’ fashioned packers heckling from yours truely. ;) See you then.

16 Sep 04 Balls of Steel vs Nexus of the Universe

Behold, the power of beer!

That seemed to be the teams downfall. Most of the team was a sober (my state during the game), a wee bit tipsy to flat out hammered. While we lost the game 10-2, all the drunken folks sure made the game interesting! The bar next to the fields has the best after game snack, $1 tacos! Kickball and tacos, who could ask for anything more!

On the work front, I had my first session of my new Reporting Workbench class. It went over great! I have some ideas to add into the course and things to revise, but the initial pilot was well recieved. That was the highlight of my day.

Now to sleep. I have not been getting enough of it, and it’s showing. Been a little run down and mentally down and out from being too tired. Some good sleep tonight, and I will be right as rain tomorrow.

Speaking of the weekend, sounds like most everyone is going to be gone. Looks like it might be a quiet weekend. Know of something going on? Email me or give me an IM on AIM @ uwflatlander.

15 Sep 04 Late Days At Work

Arg!

12 hour days suck. Now that’s two in a row under my belt. I will be glad when I get this new class out of the way for the first session. I’ve been getting too engrossed in the details of it. Been weirding myself out over the smaller details. As Tim K says, get it made first, then we’ll worry about making it perfect.

Well, it’s made as much as I can make it before tomorrow. Here’s to getting at least some sleep tonight. I need to make it to work on time so I can get to the class I am attending in the morning before my new class I present in the afternoon. Long day, but it will have n end. That is the good thing.

On a plus note, it seems my efforts are being noticed. Lisa stopped by my cube to thank me for the work I am doing. It’s training that has been needed, and she is thankful to get. It is nice to be thanked now and then.

14 Sep 04 Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)

Ahh, the joys of Karaoke!

My friend Hillary was having a bad day, so Gerald and Dennis took her out to dinner to help her out. I wanted to go, but I stayed at work till 9ish to get a new training course mostly finished. I will have the finishing touches on it tomorrow. Good times.

We were going to go to Pat McCurdy, but Karaoke called! Perdos on the west side has Karaoke on Tuesday nights. Plus, it wasn’t that crowded.

Hillary and I banged out Summer nights. Hillary and Dennis belted out a glorious version of Cecilia. I did my personal favorite of Ring of Fire and a new favorite, Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) If you haven’t seen the video, go to Launch @ Yahoo! and find the video under the country section. You won’t be disappointed.

Then imagine me singing it. Oh yea! Love the visual eh? ;)

Day two of contacts going well, but my left eye keeps going screwy. It goes in and out of focus and I havn’t been able to figure out why. It was suggested it mought be inside out, but I tried both ways and it still comes up odd.

And why contacts? (Been asked that a few times) Well… the doctor suggested it, it is a free initial pair, so I thought, what the hell! Let’s try it!

13 Sep 04 I Can See! Without Glasses!

Wow, contacts are great!

Got my first pair today from the folks over at Dean. I managed to get pretty good at taking them in and out pretty quickly, only about 10-15 minutes. It feels so weird not having my glasses on. So far, the vision has been great! Not to mention the joy of being able to wear normal sunglasses for the first time in years!

Find me and check me out simetime. I am still working on getting my left contact to stay in place or something. It keeps going in and out of focus, rather annoying really. After some time though, it should be back in line with the right one.
